Wii IDOL - an interschool competition

The Competition

The Victorian information Technology Teachers Association (VITTA) proudly presents the Wii Idol interschool competition. Primary Schools across Victoria are invited to enter this exciting, fun and educational musical extravaganza!

Schools will go head to head during regional heats (one in each DEECD region) using the popular game, Wii Music. Each school may enter one "band" made up of one teacher and three students working collaboratively together.

Bands will play two Wii Music songs during the heats and will be judged by a panel of experts on creativity, timing, skill, performance and teamwork. The band with the highest score in each heat wins the regional finals and will be eligible to compete in the Wii Idol Grand Final to be held at the VITTA Annual Conference 2009.

Wii Idol will improve students' musical understanding and skills, promote stronger student-teacher relationships, allow students to set goals, improve concentration in class and best of all, is fun for all involved!

You don't need to know how to play an instrument to make compositions in Wii Music. With the motion-sensitive Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers in your hands, it's easy to strum guitars, pound drums or improvise on keyboards as you play along with and re-arrange more than 50 famous songs.

With a wide range of different songs to choose from, players of all ages can enjoy putting their own spin on tunes they know. Wii Music lets you record all your performances, send them to friends and even edit different instruments into performance.

There's virtually no limit to the weird and wonderful sounds you can create and share!
